Qualifications

Driver Qualifications

To rent a vehicle from the Motor Pool you must:

• be an authorized driver
• have a current Driver Authorization on file (If you have yet to fill one out, click here to complete the Driver's Authorization form)
• possess a current U.S. or Canadian driver's license*

*If you have lived in Oregon for more than 90 days, you must possess an Oregon Driver's License (ODL). Drivers with an out-of-state license will only be authorized for three months and will be required to complete a new authorization unless an ODL is obtained. Students who are a resident of another state are exempt.

Van Rental

To rent an 8 or 12 passenger van, or large cargo van from the Motor Pool, you need to have passed a Van Safety Test and have an active driver authorization.

Suspension

Driving privileges of a Motor Pool vehicle may be suspended by the Motor Pool Manager, if in the best interest of the university. Causes for suspension may include, but are not limited to:

• Three or more citations for moving violations in a year
• Physical evidence of alcoholic beverages having been in vehicle
• Evidence of possession or use of unlawful drugs in vehicle
• Operation of vehicles while under the influence of intoxicants or drugs, whether or not a citation is issued or conviction occurs
• Citizen's complaint of misuse of vehicle
• Any action detrimental to the function or public image of the university
